ASA STARS National Tour
Daily Schedules Released for New Smyrna World Series
Dec 22, 2023
Champion Racing Association has revealed the 2024 schedule for the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS. A 12 race schedule features six tracks in three different states and two inner-season showdowns including the King of the High Banks [Read More] and the Five Crown [Read More]. Tracks on the 2024 schedule include a blockbuster start with the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway, a return to CRA’s birthplace, Anderson Speedway, two visits to America’s Favorite Short Track, two stops at Salem Speedway, two appearances at Winchester Speedway, and a special show at Shadybowl Speedway.
Not only will the April 6th return to the Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway be special because of the chance to race at ‘The Last Great Colosseum’, but the event will also serve as the opener of the 2024 season, and first race of the King of the Highbanks series. The latest installment of this race was held in 2019, where Chuck Barnes, Sr and Chuck Barnes, Jr were the class of the field. Ultimately, Barnes, Jr swept the night picking up the Fast Qualifier Award and winning the race after taking the lead with 19 to go.
Anderson Speedway makes its first appearance on the 2024 calendar on Saturday, April 27th. The first visit will be one of the few “regular” events of the season for the CRA Street Stocks. However, not much is ‘regular’ when in Anderson. The high banked quarter-mile oval puts drivers and equipment to the ultimate test. Since the Series was launched in 2010, over six dozen races have been held at Anderson Speedway.
On Saturday, May 11th the Series heads back to Tennessee, this time to Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway for the first race of the Five Crown Series. Only recently have the CRA Street Stocks found a home at Nashville, with their first appearance during the 2020 All American 400 weekend. In those four events, Brett Hudson has found Victory Lane twice, but most recently Barnes, Jr won in last season’s Four Crown Series.
Nashville also kicks off a seven race stretch of special shows for the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS. On Saturday, June 8th they head to Salem Speedway for the King of the High Banks race #2 alongside the Speedway’s Great American Stocks (GAS). The second race of the Five Crown is Saturday, June 22nd at Anderson Speedway before a return to Salem against GAS for the traditional Firecracker 200 on Saturday, July 6th. Shadybowl Speedway is the lone Ohio representative on Saturday, July 27th with another Five Crown contest. Saturday, August 10th its back Anderson for the finale of the Five Crown Series.
The conclusion of the King of the Highbanks Series for the CRA Street Stocks, Vore’s Compact Touring Series, and the Wheeler Trucking Midwest Modifieds is Saturday, August 31st. The visit will be the 61st time in CRA History that the Street Stocks will race on the historic high banks.
The regular season continues with the penultimate race on Saturday, September 14th at Anderson before a champion is crowned on Saturday, October 12th back at Winchester Speedway as part of the Winchester 400 weekend. The season completely ends after another non-points appearance at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway for the All American 400 weekend on Saturday, November 2nd.
More information on schedules and events for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour and the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman will be released later this week.
The next event for Champion Racing Association is the Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Friday, January 5th in Plymouth, IN. The Ceremony is open to the public, and RSVPs can be found online.
