Teams must use the Pit Pay App to buy pit passes to be eligible to collect the challenge bonus.

Pit passes for the 54th Annual Snowball Derby weekend are on sale now in the Pit Pay App.

“We’re ready to hand out some extra bonus money to the Derby and Snowflake polesitters if they used Pit Pay and go win the premier events,” said Frank Bolter, founder and owner of Pit Pay. “Five Flags Speedway is a great facility, and the Snowball Derby is one of the highlights on the short track calendar. We’re excited to continue our support of the Derby, and add the Pit Pay Challenge for the Snowflake as well this year. We take pride in supporting short track racing and our track and series partners.”

“Pit Pay has been a great partner of ours over the last few years,” said Tim Bryant, promoter of Five Flags Speedway, the home of the Snowball Derby. “Their technology has streamlined the check-in process and made it easy for us to sell pit passes in advance. We see more and more people take advantage of it, and utilizing technology to enhance the at-track experience is where short tracks across the country are heading. These $10,000 and $5,000 Pit Pay Challenge bonuses will add to the excitement for the Snowball Derby and Snowflake 100 events.”

The Snowball Derby, one of the most prestigious events in super late model racing, is an annual 300-lap race held at the historic Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla. The Snowball Derby, which began in 1968, regularly attracts some of the biggest names in short track racing to the half-mile, banked asphalt oval. The 2021 Snowball Derby will be held on Sunday, Dec. 5, with qualifying scheduled for Friday, Dec. 3.

The Snowflake is the 100-lap marquee event for the two-barrel carburetor pro late models, with many drivers opting to run both events. The Snowflake has been the companion event to the Snowball Derby since 1983, when it began as a 30-lap race for those that couldn’t afford to run the Derby. The race was extended to 50 laps the following year, and then to its current 100 laps in 1987. It was converted to a Pro Late Model race in 2004.
