First reported by FloRacing, the entry list for the Snowball Derby features 49 competitors. Nearly 45 teams are currently entered for the Allen Turner Snowflake 100.
As always, the entry list for the Snowball Derby is filled with Late Model champions, winners and contenders, putting together one of the best fields in short track racing.
Among the 49 entrants are a pair of NASCAR Cup Series competitors, Noah Gragson and Ryan Preece. Gragson won the 51st Annual Snowball Derby in 2018 and will be seeking a second Tom Dawson Trophy. Preece finished fourth in the Snowball Derby in 2021, but was involved in an incident during last year's running and finished 31st.
The first driver to submit an entry for the Snowball Derby was none other than Bubba Pollard, seeking his first victory in the prestigious event. In the 2024 season alone, Pollard has scored victories in SpeedFest, the Clyde Hart Memorial, the Rattler 250, the Money in the Bank 150, and a pair of ASA Southern Super Series events including the Blizzard Series race at Five Flags on June 28.
Another notable seeking their first Tom Dawson Trophy include another Blizzard Series victor from this season, two-time Winchester 400 winner Stephen Nasse. One season ago, Pollard and Nasse clashed while battling for the win late in the Snowball Derby, opening the door for Ty Majeski to secure his second victory in the event.
Majeski seeks to join an incredibly exclusive club at this year's Snowball Derby. Only one driver has more than two wins in the prestigious event, fellow Wisconsin native Rich Bickle, Jr., with five triumphs.
Other former Snowball Derby winners on the entry list include Chandler Smith and Derek Thorn. Over three years between 2020 and 2022, Thorn rewrote the record books with his dominance in the event, leading 851 laps in those three races. However, it wasn't until the 2022 Snowball Derby that Thorn found victory lane and joined the list of winners in the event.
Smith thwarted Thorn's victory bid in 2021, leading the final 13 laps of the 54th Snowball Derby. The NASCAR Xfinity Series competitor will be making his first Derby appearance since that win three years ago.
As is often the case, several drivers will attempt "double duty" throughout the Snowball Derby weekend, competing in both the Derby and the Allen Turner Snowflake 100. Among those are Nasse, World Crown 300 winner Michael Hinde, Show Me the Money Series champion Jake Finch, CARS Tour Pro Late Model champion Kaden Honeycutt, Matt Craig, Vito Cancilla, Dustin Smith, Nick Loden and Conner Jones.
While there might not be double duty involved, there will be double the fun for a pair of Canadian brothers at this year's Derby.
Both Cayden and Treyten Lapcevich are entered in the Snowball Derby. Cayden is making his first Derby appearance since 2020, while Treyten qualified in the top 10 one year ago.
Cole Butcher, with four top-five finishes in the last five Snowball Derby races, seeks his first Tom Dawson Trophy. Brother Jarrett Butcher, recently crowned the 2024 East Coast International Pro Stock Tour champion, will make his fifth appearance in the Snowflake 100.
Other notables on the Snowball Derby entry list include 2024 All American 400 winner Jake Garcia, former NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Johnny Sauter, and ASA STARS National Tour winners Dawson Sutton and Kyle Steckly.
Racing America will provide coverage of the 57th Annual Snowball Derby, with FloRacing offering live broadcast coverage of the event on December 4-8 at Five Flags Speedway.
