Prime Promotions has added $2,000 to the Walt Rammer Tough As Steel Vores Compact Touring Series Challenge, supporting and rewarding loyal and dedicated competitors in the series.

Each year, the Vores Compact Touring Series powered by Mercer County Electric honors series official Walt Rammel, who passed away in 2015, with the Vores Welding and Steel Tough as Steel VCTS Challenge. Any VCTS driver that shows up at every race during the season is honored at the year-end series banquet.

"These drivers drive thousands of miles every year to go racing with VCTS and we know they are tough as Steel as my buddy Walt was," said series owner Steve Vore.

J.R. Long, the owner of Prime Promotions, said he wanted to donate a cash prize to help the drivers that attend every VCTS race.

"These guys put their heart, soul and pocket book into being loyal to VCTS," said Long. "I just want to help them with an additional incentive for supporting the series"

"The $2000 will be divided at the 2024 awards banquet and split evenly among the drivers that make every race," stated Dan Redmond, director of VCTS Racing Operations. "If there are 10 of them, they will each get a check for $200. If there are 4, they will receive $500 each."

Redmond went on to say what all drivers think of J.R. Long.

"You could not ask for a man that tries harder to help the grass roots racers in the Midwest. He is not just a sponsor he is a friend to everyone in the racing community."

The 2024 Vores Compact Touring Series season begins on April 6-7 at Bristol Motor Speedway for the Short Track U.S. Nationals: The Last Lap. While registration has been cut off for this event due to overwhelming interest and demand from racers, those who hope to compete in the event are encouraged to join the waiting list today to enter as opportunities are presented.
