Dec 21, 2023
The 2024 season promises to the biggest yet, as the series continues to see growth with both the OSCAAR Modifieds and OSCAAR Hot Rods entering the second year under the United Racing Series banner.
Since the completion of last season, OSCAAR officials have been focused on preparing for the upcoming 2024 campaign.
The 2024 season promises to the biggest yet, as the series continues to see growth with both the OSCAAR Modifieds and OSCAAR Hot Rods entering the second year under the United Racing Series banner.
The schedule currently consists of 12 events for the Modifieds and the Hot Rods, with both divisions doing battle across the province at six different venues.
The 2024 season will kick off with the OSCAAR Modifieds returning to Sunset Speedway on May 18, as part the track’s big Spring Velocity weekend
The following month will see both divisions head to Flamboro Speedway on June 1, with the season opener for the Hot Rods highlighting the night. This will be followed with the mid-month trip to the beach, with Sauble Speedway scheduled for June 15. This past season, fans saw T.J Edwards (Modified) and Dalen Martin (Hot Rods) visit victory lane.
As has become tradition in recent seasons on the schedule, Canada Day weekend will see a double-header at Delaware Speedway taking place on Friday, June 28 and Saturday, June 29. The half-mile always provides excitement, as last season saw four different faces in victory lane across the pair of action-packed days.
Everybody will get a couple weeks off before the series makes the trek to the quarter-mile bull-ring, with Full Throttle Motor Speedway getting a prime summer date on July 13. The series’ return to the track for the first time in a couple seasons was met with applause and excitement from speedway staff, drivers, and fans alike in 2023.
The heat will begin to pick up in August with three events scheduled throughout. The Civic Holiday tradition of heading to Peterborough Speedway remains the same for August 3, as fans will see whether the dominating wins by A.J. Emms and Rick Spencer-Walt in 2023 will be repeated this season.
Both the Modifieds and Hot Rods will then make their second appearance at Sauble Speedway on August 17, followed by Sunset Speedway on August 24.
It may be a couple weeks earlier this season, but it will be just as exciting as years past. Everybody will be hoping to have the advantage at the half-mile on September 7 that Shawn Chenoweth and Tyler Hawn showed in 2023.
As has become tradition with the Hot Rods, they will make their yearly stop at a dirt track, heading to Brighton Speedway on September 21.
The short track year-end playoff action will feature both OSCAAR divisions as it has in season’s past, beginning with Flamboro Speedway’s Frostoberfest on October 5. Although it is chilly in the air, the close racing on-track that led to Dale Reinhart and Rick Spencer-Walt finding victory lane in 2023 will keep everyone warm and entertained all night long.
As has become tradition, the season will be completed with the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway from Friday, October 12 to Sunday, October 14. Everyone will be trying to take home the famous leaf trophies that were held by Shawn Chenoweth and Tyler Hawn this season.
