In his 50th start with the UARA Sportsman Series, Adam Briggs went to victory lane on Saturday night at the Freedom Factory.
Briggs won the Salted Metals 75 presented by Melon 1, the first event for the UARA Sportsman Series’ 2025 season. It also marked Briggs’ first career win with the series since joining in 2018.
After a six-car invert from qualifying, Briggs started on the outside of the front row and jumped out to the early lead. Over the course of the 75-lap feature, Briggs held off challenges from Brandon Morris, Dodge Carlbert and Daniel Webster to take the win.
“I don’t even know where to start,” said Briggs in victory lane. “We unloaded last night not very good. Travis [Roland] went to work on this thing hard today. When you said it was the 50th start, I said we’ve got to make a point here.
“It’s awesome, you know. My wife let me come out last night, Valentine’s night to practice, I want to thank her and everyone who came to help this weekend.”
Daniel Webster struggled with an ill-handling race car, but clawed his way from the edge of the top 10 to a runner-up finish.
“It definitely did not drive as good as it normally does here,” said Webster. “That was a lot of work, a little bit of luck, right place, right time. Trying to find somebody’s weakness and pounce on it. It was super-free. I didn’t even get to touch stagger or anything after qualifying because we were trying to fix [Tim] Sozio’s car. We were just winging it.
“Congtats to Adam. That thing looked flawless up there. There’s no better place to get your first win than right here.”
Morris fell back to fourth in the first half of the race after starting on the pole, but worked his way back to third in a car that was never fully to his liking. Nonetheless, he also tipped his cap to Briggs on his first career win.
“We changed a bunch of stuff. It really wasn’t there from the beginning. This is probably the worst car I’ve ever driven here. First of all, I want to say thank you to the fans, this series, Ricky Brooks. Congrats to Adam, I’m so happy for him getting that first UARA win. He definitely deserved it tonight, and dominated.”
Joe Winchell finished fourth, with Dylan Bigley rounding out the top five.
The next stop for the UARA Sportsman Series is South Alabama Speedway. The series will take part in the Hardee’s Rattler 250 weekend for the second consecutive years, joining the UARA National Super Late Models on a marquee short track racing weekend.
Rattler 250 weekend takes place on March 13-15 at South Alabama Speedway, with both the Sportsman Series and National Super Late Models contesting their feature races on Saturday, March 15.
