A.J. Allmendinger won the Xfinity Fastest Lap bonus point for the NASCAR Cup Series, with Christian Eckes and Tanner Gray taking the honor in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
All three NASCAR National Series were on track at Atlanta Motor Speedway during the Ambetter Health 400 weekend. A.J. Allmendinger won the Xfinity Fastest Lap bonus point for the NASCAR Cup Series, with Christian Eckes and Tanner Gray taking the honor in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Gray, piloting the No. 15 Place of Hope Toyota Tundra for Tricon Garage, clocked in at 30.227 seconds (183.412 miles per hour) to win the Xfinity Fastest Lap Award for the Fr8 208 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Gray finished 15th in the race won by Kyle Busch.
While it is early in the season, Gray's bonus point broke a tie with Layne Riggs for 12th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings through two races. Coincidentally, Riggs won the Xfinity Fastest Lap Award in the Truck Series event at Daytona International Speedway.
In the NASCAR Xfinity Series Bennett Transportation & Logistics 250, Christian Eckes claimed the Xfinity Fastest Lap award in the No. 16 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevrolet. On lap 42, Eckes blistered around Atlanta Motor Speedway in 30.402 seconds, an average speed of 182.356 miles per hour.
Like in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, the NASCAR Cup Series' Xfinity Fastest Lap award went to the No. 16 Kaulig Racing entry. A.J. Allmendinger's 111th lap of the Ambetter Health 400 clocked in at 29.451 seconds, an average speed of 187.671 miles per hour.
The bonus point was part of a bounce-back effort for Allmendinger, who was the last-place finisher in the Daytona 500 due to an early mechanical issue. Allmendinger will certainly be looking for another strong showing when the NASCAR Cup Series goes road course racing at Circuit of The Americas on Sunday, March 2.
The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series will both be in action at Circuit of The Americas this weekend. The Xfinity Series Focused Health 250 takes place on Saturday, March 1 at 2:30 p.m. ET. The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix for the NASCAR Cup Series follows on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
