William Byron and Taylor Gray earned the Xfinity Fastest Lap Awards at Darlington Raceway during NASCAR's Throwback Weekend.
William Byron earned the Xfinity Fastest Lap Award for the NASCAR Cup Series' Goodyear 400. Byron set the fastest lap of the race on the final lap, with a time of 29.387 seconds.
Byron's fastest lap came as he tried to chase down Denny Hamlin on an overtime restart. However, Hamlin held on for his second consecutive NASCAR Cup Series victory.
Following Sunday's Goodyear 400, Byron remains the NASCAR Cup Series points leader. He holds a 49-point advantage over Hamlin in the standings, with one win, four top-fives and five top-10s through the first eight races of the season.
While the Xfinity Fastest Lap came on the final lap of the Cup Series event, it took place early in Saturday's Sport Clips Haircuts VFW Help A Hero 200 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Taylor Gray logged the fastest lap on Saturday lap two, with a time of 30.600 seconds. Gray was later involved in an incident on lap 112 and finished 33rd.
Gray is currently 17th in NASCAR Xfinity Series points after the Darlington event, with one top-five and three top-10s.
This weekend, all three of NASCAR's National Series head to Bristol Motor Speedway. The NASCAR Cup Series Food City 500 headlines the weekend on Sunday, April 13 at 3 p.m. ET.
