RFK Racing, Brad Keselowski Unveil Iconic Castrol Paint Scheme for Darlington

This is a blast from the past for any kid that grew up playing Gran Turismo 4 on Playstation. Brad Keselowski and the No. 6 RFK Racing team have unveiled their 2024 Darlington Raceway throwback paint scheme. The car, which is sponsored by Castrol, will pay tribute to one of the most iconic cars in the history of Japan’s Super GT Series, the Castrol TOM’s Supra.

Keselowski and RFK Racing showed off the throwback paint scheme in a video shared to their social channels on Tuesday.

The Castrol Tachi Oiwa Motor Sports (TOM’s) Supra made its debut in the Japan sports car world in 1995 as a competitor to Nissan’s dominant Skyline GT-R race car.

After a couple of seasons of fine tuning it’s program, Michael Krumm, driving the No. 36 Castrol TOM’s machine, took home the championship in the GT500 Series by way of a tiebreaker. While Krumm would leave the program following the 1997 season, the No. 36 Castrol TOM’s Supra remained a fixture on the GT500 grid for years, and the car has reached legendary status through being featured in racing games for nearly 30 years.

Keselowski hopes that he can return the iconic paint scheme to victory lane, where it belongs, in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway on May 12.

The other two Castrol paint schemes, which Keselowski had to choose from in the social media video, were Casey Atwood’s 1999 Castrol NASCAR Xfinity Series car and John Force’s legendary NHRA Funny Car dragster.

The 40-year-old driver/co-owner of RFK Racing has had a roller coaster season so far in 2024. Keselowski has already racked up two runner-up finishes this season, which came in back-to-back races at Texas and Talladega. But he has also recorded four finishes of 30th-or-worse through the opening 11 races of the season.

Keselowski is still searching for his first win in an RFK Racing car since moving to the stable ahead of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season, and it has appeared many times that he is nearing a win. How fitting would it be if he could get it done at Darlington in the iconic Castrol paint scheme?
