Points Report: NASCAR Cup Series Bank of America ROVAL 400 at Charlotte

William Byron remains in the lead as the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs are reset and the field enters the Round of 8 heading to Las Vegas Motor Speedway

The Round of 12 of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs came to an end on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway with the Bank of America ROVAL 400, ending the championship hopes of another four drivers and keeping those hopes alive for eight others.

With A.J. Allmendinger scoring the dominant victory in Sunday's ROVAL race, no new driver locked themselves into the Round of 8 and the point standings ultimately determined who would be advancing and who would miss the cut.

William Byron remains in the lead in the driver point standings with his season-high six wins and 41 Playoff points, while Martin Truex Jr. made the next round by just 12 points over Brad Keselowski.

Here is how the driver point standings shaped up following Sunday's race in Charlotte.

While Truex narrowly made the cut to advance to the next round, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver jumped back to second once the points were reset, thanks to being the regular season championship and his cache of Playoff points accumulated throughout the year.

With only three races remaining before the Championship 4 is set ahead of the season-finale at Phoenix Raceway, the four drivers currently below the cut line are Chris Buescher, Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick and Ryan Blaney.

Here is a look at the reseeded driver point standings heading into next Sunday's South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which kicks off the Round of 8.

In the owner point standings, the battle continues for Chase Elliott and the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports team after a strong performance in the Round of 12. While Elliott is not in contention for the NASCAR Cup Series driver championship, the No. 9 Chevrolet ended this round second in the owner points to teammate William Byron in the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

The No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet also advanced into the Round of 8 in the owner Playoffs, edging the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota by just one point.

Much like the driver championship battle, the owner point standings have been reset ahead of this week's race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, with the No. 24 team continuing to lead the way with a nine-point advantage over the No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing team in second.

The No. 20 JGR Toyota, No. 45 23XI Racing Toyota, No. 12 Team Penske Ford and the No. 9 HMS Chevrolet are currently below the cutline as they start the Round of 8.
