NASCAR Cup Series
Mike Rockenfeller to Pilot No. 42 LMC Entry at Indianapolis and Watkins Glen
Aug 8, 2023
Noah Gragson, who was suspended by LEGACY MOTOR CLUB last week, and then indefinitely suspended by NASCAR for detrimental actions on social media, has formally requested to be released from his LEGACY MOTOR CLUB contract.
"I have asked LEGACY MOTOR CLUB to release me from my contract so that I can take time to work through the NASCAR reinstatement process," Gragson said in a statement provided by LEGACY MOTOR CLUB. "I love racing, and I am looking forward to a second chance to compete for wins at the highest level of NASCAR - and most importantly, make my family, my team, and the fans proud of me once again."
It's a sad end to what was a promising pairing. The LEGACY MOTOR CLUB team wants it to be known that they still believe in Gragson's talent, and are glad the driver is taking his transgressions on social media seriously.
“Noah has a ton of talent and has a great personality. This is a difficult situation, but we are proud that Noah has taken ownership of his actions and are confident he will work through this process with NASCAR and come back stronger,” said Cal Wells III, CEO of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB.
Road racing ace Mike Rockenfeller will pilot the No. 42 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB Chevrolet Camaro this weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, as well as next weekend at Watkins Glen.
The driver of the No. 42 going forward is unknown at this time.
As announced earlier this year, LEGACY MOTOR CLUB will swap from Chevrolet to Toyota for the 2024 season.
Heading into this weekend's event at Indianapolis, the No. 42 LEGACY MOTOR CLUB team ranks 35th in the NASCAR Cup Series owner standings.
