Layne Riggs, an emerging talent in the NASCAR National Series ranks, will get a chance to pilot the No. 7 Chevrolet Silverado for Spire Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on August 11th.
Riggs, 21, will have Infinity Communications Group as the primary sponsor for the No. 7 team's effort.
For Riggs, this is a massive opportunity, as he gets an opportunity to drive for a team that not only fields a NASCAR Truck Series entry, but a two-car NASCAR Cup Series team as well.
The young racer is a short-track ace, and has a little extra confidence going into his race at IRP, as he finished inside the top-10 after starting 23rd at the track a season ago.
"I couldn't be more excited to partner with Infinity Communications and Spire Motorsports to go short-track racing in Indianapolis," said Riggs in a team press release. "I made my NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut last season at the same track and we were able to put together a really solid seventh-place finish. I have a ton of short track experience and having Bono Manion calling the race from the top of the box puts us in a good spot to have a great race."
Riggs was the 2022 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series National champion, and has made a total of five starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, including two starts this season.
Spire Motorsports has lofty expectations for the talented young phenom, but the team feels he'll be able to exceed even those lofty expectations.
"Layne Riggs is a proven talent in the pavement late model ranks and has made a name for himself as a gritty, hard-working, and smart race-car driver," said Manion. "He's the kind of kid you hope gets a chance at the next level. LOIRP is exactly the type of track that's right in Layne's wheelhouse so we have high expectations. We're excited to have him in the seat and optimistic about our chances to have a good night."
The Spire Motorsports organization has one NASCAR Cup Series victory to date, and since moving into a part-time role in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2022, the team has already recorded two victories.
Riggs will see what he can do about adding a third piece of hardware to the trophy room for the team in the TSport 200 at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.
