Jeff Gordon's 'Last Ride' Takes the Track Again at Darlington

Crossroads w/ the Burtons
One year after an incredibly popular Terry Labonte throwback, Kyle Larson will again represent "Texas Terry" at this year's Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway during NASCAR's Throwback Weekend.
For 2025, Larson's No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet will don the blue and orange colors Labonte sported in the early 2000s, complete with the iconic "tiger stripes" made famous by Kellogg's mascot Tony the Tiger.
In 2003, Terry Labonte notched one of the biggest wins of his career when he won the Southern 500 at Darlington in the Kellogg's sponsored Chevrolet. Now, that scheme will once again take on "The Track Too Tough to Tame" with Larson behind the wheel.
This comes one year after Larson paid tribute to Labonte's yellow and red Kellogg's machines from the late 90s, such as the one he drove the 1996 NASCAR Cup Series championship. Larson led 15 laps in last year's Goodyear 400, but a crash relegated him to a 34th-place finish.
Like Labonte, Larson is also a former Southern 500 winner. The Elk Grove, California native won the crown jewel event in 2023.
Labonte won 22 NASCAR Cup Series events during his career, as well as two Cup Series championships in 1984 and 1996. He was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2016.
Larson joined elite company in the most recent NASCAR Cup Series event at Homestead-Miami Speedway, scoring his 30th NASCAR Cup Series victory. Larson is the 30th driver to accomplish that feat in series history. The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion currently sits second in points behind Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron.
Byron will be throwing back to four-time Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon during the Goodyear 400, carrying the colors of Gordon's "Last Ride" at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2015. Chase Elliott is throwing back to Ken Schrader's 1994 Hendrick Motorsports entry.
The Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway is scheduled for Sunday, April 6, at 3:00 p.m. ET. Live coverage will air on FOX Sports 1 and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
