LEGACY MOTOR CLUB has selected Josh Berry to pilot the team's No. 42 Sunseeker Resort Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in next weekend's Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.

The team made the announcement on Friday, heading into this weekend's race at Watkins Glen International. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 will mark Berry's first-career NASCAR Cup Series start at the 2.5-mile superspeedway in Florida.

“I can’t thank everyone at LEGACY MOTOR CLUB enough for giving me the opportunity to drive the No. 42 again next weekend at Daytona,” said Berry. “I haven’t driven these cars on a superspeedway yet, but I’ve got great teammates in Erik Jones and Jimmie Johnson that I can lean on throughout the week to be up to speed for Saturday night.”

Berry, 32, has been a super sub of sorts this season, as he has made a total of nine starts in the NASCAR Cup Series competition filling in for various drivers during injury or suspension.

The native of Hendersonville, Tennessee scored a career-best second-place finish at Richmond Raceway in the spring while substituting for the injured Chase Elliott.

Berry has been running his second full season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports this season. Through 22 races, Berry sits fifth in the NXS championship standings with eight top-fives and 13 top-10 finishes.

LEGACY MOTOR CLUB is happy to have Berry, who filled in at Michigan International Speedway after the suspension of Noah Gragson, back, and they are thankful for JR Motorsports allowing it.

“We appreciate the cooperation of JR Motorsports and look forward to Josh driving the No. 42 Chevy at Daytona,” said VP of Race Operations Joey Cohen. “Josh stepped in at Michigan and fit in great with the team. He understands the need to work together at superspeedways as a teammate and can help LEGACY M.C. have a solid points day and contest for the win.”

Berry, who struggled to find footing for his NASCAR career a few years ago, has become a hot commodity over the last two seasons. His strong performances in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Cup Series resulted in him securing the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing ride for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.
