Hendrick Motorsports, Alex Bowman Reveal Jimmie Johnson Darlington Throwback

Alex Bowman, and the No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports team, were the latest in a long line of teams that revealed their Darlington Raceway throwback paint schemes on Tuesday morning. Bowman and the No. 48 team will utilize a scheme very familiar with the HMS No. 48, and it's most recent two NASCAR Hall of Fame members -- Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus.

Bowman, with primary sponsorship from Ally, will pilot the paint scheme that Johnson ran in the NASCAR Cup Series in his 2002 NASCAR Cup Series rookie campaign, and used until the end of the 2004 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Ally Racing gave the official first look at the paint scheme on social media on Tuesday:

The paint scheme truly laid the foundation for what turned into one of the greatest pairings of all-time between Johnson and Knaus. And, in the end, the duo won seven NASCAR Cup Series championships together.

Through the opening 11 races of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season, Alex Bowman has already matched the amount of top-five finishes (four) that he had all of last season. The driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 sits ninth in the NASCAR Cup Series Regular-Season Championship Standings, and he has had a really solid start to the season.

Bowman got the season started off on the right foot by recording a runner-up finish in the season-opening Daytona 500, and he finished fourth in back-to-back races at Bristol and Circuit of the Americas last month.

The Tucson, Arizona native also notched a fifth-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway.

Bowman boasts a resume that includes seven NASCAR Cup Series wins, and with how he has been running this season, he seems poised to add to that total.
