Kaulig Racing has struck a brand-new partnership with Go Bowling, which will see the organization field a third NASCAR Cup Series entry for the September 15 event at Watkins Glen International, the team announced on Tuesday.

AJ Allmendinger, who has amassed 14 road course victories between the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series, will pilot the No. 13 GoBowling Chevrolet Camaro in the first Playoff event for the 2.45-mile road course.

“We’re thrilled to kick off this partnership with AJ and the Kaulig Racing team,” said John Harbuck, President of Strike Ten Entertainment. “Bowling and NASCAR align perfectly as both have passionate and loyal fan bases. AJ has already made a huge impact with our fans having just won our Go Bowling PBA NASCAR Invitational, a celebrity bowling event we staged at the Phoenix Raceway earlier this season. We can’t wait to see AJ on the bowling lanes and on the track at our Go Bowling at The Glen Playoff Race in September”

The New York-based facility is home to the first of three NASCAR Cup Series victories for AJ Allmendinger, bringing home the trophy for JTG Daugherty Racing after a heated battle with Marcos Ambrose.

Since then, the Los Gatos, California native has made six NASCAR Cup Series starts at the racetrack, never starting outside the top-10, while recording three top-five and four top-10 finishes. His last two Cup Series starts at the track, both with Kaulig Racing, have resulted in second and fourth-place finishes.

“It’s always special for me going back to Watkins Glen,” said AJ Allmendinger. “I’m excited to get there and have Go Bowling on the Cup car. This is a fun partnership; I had a blast in the PBA NASCAR Invitational at Phoenix in the spring. I actually used to be on a bowling league growing up, so it’s cool to have bowling cross paths with my racing career now.”

Allmendinger will be serving as an extra teammate to Daniel Hemric, the team’s sole full-time driver, as well as three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen, who will continue his part-time Cup effort with the team in the Go Bowling at The Glen event.
