Team Penske and Discount Tire have agreed to a partnership extension, which will see the world's largest independent retailer of tires and wheels remain a primary partner of the championship-winning team for several years.
The multi-year extension was announced prior to the start of Sunday's Daytona 500, and is set to include support of the team's NASCAR and IndyCar programs in 2023.
Discount Tire will continue its working relationship with Austin Cindric, winner of last year's Daytona 500, serving as a multi-race primary sponsor of the No. 2 Ford Mustang.
The company will also continue one of the newer aspects of their partnership with Team Penske, serving as a multi-race primary sponsor of Ryan Blaney's No. 12 Ford Mustang.
“We are proud of Team Penske’s partnership with Discount Tire and the success we have had together over the years, including multiple championships and a victory in the Daytona 500,” said Roger Penske. “Our companies share many of the same core values and this is a partnership that continues to deliver, both on and off the race track. We are excited to build on our success together in 2023 and into the future.”
The company's first showing with Team Penske came in the NASCAR Xfinity Series back in 2010, when Brad Keselowski captured six victories en-route to the team's first NASCAR title.
Over the years, Discount Tire continued to be the anchor partner of the team's program in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, which netted them four Owner's Championships.
In 2018, the relationship moved into the NASCAR Cup Series, where Discount Tire was a primary partner of the No. 2 Ford Mustang, and has stayed aboard the entry ever since.
Last year, Austin Cindric brought the company its biggest win as a NASCAR sponsor, when he captured the victory in the 2022 Daytona 500.
“Discount Tire is grateful for our partnership with Roger Penske and Team Penske,” said Michael Zuieback, executive chairman of Discount Tire. “For more than a decade, this partnership has allowed our people, our customers and our race team to dream bigger and we look forward to celebrating more championships together with Team Penske in the future.”
No schedule of events has been announced for Discount Tire's presence on the No. 2 or No. 12 entries in the NASCAR Cup Series.
