The winner of Friday's Richie Evans Memorial 100 at New Smyrna Speedway will be the first driver to earn a provisional starting spot for the Race of Champions 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on October 11.
A long standing tradition for the Race of Champions Modified Series has returned in 2025 as “Qualifying” races will dot the 2025 racing schedule.
The winner of a “Qualifying” race will earn a provisional starting position for the 2025 Race of Champions “150” happening at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Saturday, October 11, provided the driver and team enter the event, practice and make an attempt at qualifying for the prestigious race.
The first Race of Champions “150” qualifier will take place this Friday, February 14 as part of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at New Smyrna Speedway in Samsula, FL. The winner of the “Richie Evans 100” will be eligible as a qualifier for the race on Saturday, October 15 at Thompson.
“We’ve had several people reach out to us in regard to bringing back the qualifiers with our move to Thompson,” stated Joe Skotnicki, Race of Champions. “So, we have listened and brought them back. The first race will be Friday night at New Smyrna Speedway in their great annual tradition of the Richie Evans 100. We will even have the Al Gerber Memorial perpetual trophy on hand displayed in the midway. We’d sincerely like to thank Jane and Robert Hart for this opportunity as well as their staff for allowing us to be a small part of this great event.”
Each race that comprises the 2025 Race of Champions Modified Series schedule will be included as a “Qualifier” beginning with the Saturday, April 12 date at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA. More dates and other “Qualifiers” will be announced in the near future.
