When the roar of the mighty NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour returns to Connecticut’s quiet corner this Sunday afternoon, it’ll be the 153rd time the series has tackled the iconic highbanks of Thompson Speedway and the first time in four years that the Tour has competed on Icebreaker weekend. The Icebreaker 150 for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is set as the first homebase battle for the Northeast teams who regularly compete on the fan-favorite Tour.

After just two events, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour looks to have a revived title fight between defending champion Ronnie Silk and most-recent Tour winner Justin Bonsignore. After wrapping up the 2023 title last season at Martinsville Speedway, Silk cast away all doubt with his hard-charging victory at New Smyrna Speedway during Florida Speedweeks in February. On the flip side of the coin, Bonsignore has been equally strong once again, battling hard with Silk at New Smyrna and claiming the dominant win last weekend at Richmond Raceway.

Along with the dynamic duo atop the standings, past Thompson Speedway victors Eric Goodale and Craig Lutz grab early attention while young-guns Tyler Rypkema, Matt Beers and Jake Johnson have also shown plenty of speed on the highbanks and could have a little something left in the tank for the Tour veterans.

Silk and Bonsignore lead a 24-strong field of NASCAR stars to Thompson Speedway on Sunday, April 7 to headline the return of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour to Icebreaker weekend at Thompson Speedway. The Icebreaker 150 will also feature Thompson Speedway track championship competition for the Sunoco 604 Modifieds, Thompson Late Models and the AZ Roofing SK Light Modifieds.

Don’t forget the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series kick off an exciting Icebreaker weekend on Saturday, April 6 alongside the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models, Evolve Bank & Mortgage Pro Truck Series and the start of Thompson track championship action for the Sunoco 604 Modifieds, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks.
