More Than 30 Modifieds Entered for North-South Shootout at Caraway

The 22nd Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout in Memory of Charles Kepley brings the Modified world to Caraway Speedway on November 7-9. A field of more than 30 Modified competitors have entered this year's edition of the event.

Of course, that field will be chasing Matt Hirschman. The Pennsylvania driver seeks his 10th win in the North-South Shootout after winning the last three editions of the event. Other former North-South Shootout winners on the entry list include Andy Seuss (2016 and 2019) and Burt Myers (2008 and 2009).

Several drivers are making their first appearance in the event. Among them are NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race winner Joey Coulter, 2021 Modified Racing Series champion Brian Robie, and brothers Tyler and Trevor Catalano joining fellow sibling Tommy Catalano in the field.

With the calendar rolling over to November, several Northern competitors are taking advantage of this southern event to extend their racing season. Drivers such as Canada's Norman Newman, New York's Chris Finocchario, a fleet of New Jersey drivers including Paulie Hartwig, III, JImmy Blewett and Tom Martino, Jr., Pennsylvania's Austin Kochenash are all part of the North-South Shootout field.

They'll face several standouts from the south, including the likes of the Myers brothers, Brandon Ward, Jake Crum, John Smith, and Brian and Carson Loftin, all looking to keep the North-South Shootout crown in the Tar Heel State.

A notable driver on the entry list is Jeremy Gerstner, returning to competition after being injured in a frightening accident at New Smyrna Speedway in February. While Gerstner and his team have been at the track on a handful of occasions throughout the 2024 season, this weekend will be his first chance to get behind the wheel in competition.

The North-South Shootout begins on Thursday, November 7 with practice. Modified teams will qualify on Friday, November 8 ahead of the 125-lap feature raceon Saturday, November 9.

The ISMA-MSS Supermodifieds willl also be in action, along with 602 Modifieds, Challengers, BGS Sportsman and the Vintage Fall Nationals over the weekend.
