With its first 10 seasons now in the record books, the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour starts the 2025 season on Saturday with the Hunt for The Bear 61, the precursor to the Alabama 200 at Montgomery Motor Speedway.
Currently, 19 cars are entered for the Hunt for The Bear 61, the kick-off for the eight-race season for the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour. The 61-lap distance is a nod to the 61st running of the Alabama 200, which follows the Modifieds of Mayhem feature on Saturday evening.
Just like in the Alabama 200 for Pro Late Models, Modifieds of Mayhem Tour competitors will be chasing a hand-carved bear trophy to add to their collection on Saturday. The unique, hand-carved trophy is one of the most coveted prizes of the year for the series.
The "home base" for the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour, Saturday's Hunt for The Bear will be the 33rd Tour event at Montgomery Motor Speedway. With a win in last year's Hunt for The Bear, Jeff Letson tied Augie Grill with eight Modifieds of Mayhem Tour victories at the Alabama half-mile.
Letson hopes to break that tie as part of this year's Hunt for The Bear field. However, the last time the Modifieds of Mayhem raced at Montgomery, it was Jeremy Williams and Timmy Moore scoring wins in a doubleheader for the series.
Last year, Jaxon Bishop joined Zach Knowles as a two-time Modifieds of Mayhem Tour champion. Other past champions with the series include Letson, Donnie Hamrac, Joe Aramendia, Kyle Purvis, Bill Burba and Cody Stickler.
The fully entry list can be viewed below.
Saturday's race is the first of seven points-paying races for the Modifieds of Mayhem Tour in 2025. The season will both start and end at Montgomery Motor Speedway, with the championship finale scheduled for October 18.
The Modifieds of Mayhem will still conclude their 2025 season at Five Flags Speedway during the weekend of the 58th Annual Snowball Derby. However, that will now be a non-points event, giving all of the Tour's drivers to opportunity to chase a Snowball Derby trophy of their own without the pressure of points racing.
