zMAX CARS Tour Pro Late Model Series
Brenden Queen Earns First CARS Tour Win of 2024 at Tri-County
May 26, 2024
This weekend, the zMAX CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car series will execute a quick turnaround from last week’s expanded-purse thriller at Tri-County Speedway, traveling eastward for a 125-lap show at Larry King Law’s Langley (Va,) Speedway. The flat .400-mile oval makes for outstanding racing, and several of the drivers and teams battling for the overall zMAX CARS Tour LMSC championship are among the best statistically on its layout. They include Brenden Queen, last week’s winner at Tri-County, perennial challenger and current points leader Connor Hall—a Langley native–and two-time and defending LMSC champion Carson Kvapil. All have outstanding records there. The fast, flat track in Langley is sure to provide plenty of thrills this weekend.

There’s nothing like winning races in front of your home crowd, and that’s exactly what Connor Hall did last year at Langley Speedway. The Langley native swept the pole and led 30 of the 125 laps last year on his home track to take the top spot. That result backed up a second-place result in 2022. Hall comes to Langley with something to prove after a troublesome weekend at Tri-County but still clinging to a slim lead in the LMSC owner points. A victory or solid performance in front of his home crowd will go a long way toward improving his chances at a first series championship.
Landen Lewis never quits working toward his ultimate goal. As one of the drivers of the No. 62 entry for Kevin Harvick, Inc., Lewis has made four LMSC starts so far this season. His best finish, eighth, came in April at New River All-American Speedway, and he was the polesitter the race prior at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway while sharing starts in the car with CARS Tour stalwart Layne Riggs. When he’s not behind the wheel, Lewis is at the track working on the car or helping out KHI’s other driver, Brent Crews, and the No. 29 team, learning how to set up and fix the flagship team’s machinery. The 17-year-old driver has experience in U.S. Legend Cars and the ARCA Series and is a new addition this season to the zMAX CARS Tour.
Cody Dempster has had a rough month in terms of the zMAX CARS Tour. The Parker, Colo. native—and NASCAR Regional Series champion—is in his first season as a full-time CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car driver, and it’s his first year in an LMSC car after campaigning Super Late Models out West. An accident in practice at Orange County Speedway in April short-circuited his plan to run the full season, as the damage caused him to miss the race at Ace Speedway on May 3. The rain-wracked mid-week show planned for North Wilkesboro Speedway didn’t help. After finishing 11th at Hickory Motor Speedway and 13th the following week at New Ricer All-American Speedway, Dempster is set to reclaim some momentum this weekend at Langley.
The green flag for the VisitHampton.com 125 is set to wave at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 1. FloRacing will broadcast the event beginning at 5 p.m. with LMSC qualifying. The VisitHampton.com 125 is slated to begin at 8:30 p.m.
