zMAX CARS Tour Implements Additional Purse Increase at Select Events in 2024

The zMAX CARS Tour plans to boost the purses of both the Late Model Stock Car and Pro Late Model fields for three events this summer to increase the chances of a big payday. The three-event slate replaces the annual Old North State Nationals, which was worth $30,000 to the winner of the LMSC event in seasons past.

The first of the three events, which will offer winner’s checks of $10,000 (LMSC) and $5,000 (PLM) is scheduled for May 25 at Tri-County Speedway in Granite Falls, N.C. The second race of the series is the annual Throwback 276 at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway on July 27 and the finale will be at Tri-County on Oct. 12.

As in the past, both 2024 events at North Wilkesboro Speedway will feature $10,000 payouts for the Late Model Stock Car winner and $5,000 to the Pro Late Model victor as well. Competitors will now have five events on the 2024 schedule with a significant purse increase.

“The Old North State Nationals was our big-money event in the past for our Late Model Stock Car competitors,” said CARS Tour Executive Director Kip Childress. “Increasingly strong car counts at our races this season, especially in the Pro LM division, led us to offer our competitors more and better chances to race for bigger money at these three races.”

In the first season of the zMAX CARS Tour, car counts have been up among the Pro Late Model class in particular, and the increased winner’s share is likely to keep that trend positive, Childress said.

Details for the theme of the annual Throwback 276, the double-division event that marks the halfway point of the season at Hickory will be announced in the coming weeks.
