The next generation of the Earnhardt lineage shined over the weekend, as Wyatt Miller finished second in his Limited Late Model debut at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 8.
The next generation of the Earnhardt lineage shined this weekend, as Wyatt Miller finished second in his Limited Late Model debut at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 8.
Wyatt Miller, the son of L.W. Miller and Kelley Earnhardt Miller and grandson of seven-time NASCAR champion Dale Earnhardt, challenged Wiliam Aldred for the victory late in the 35-lap Limited Late Model feature before finishing in second place.
“There at the end, I just tried to move him out of the way a little bit, but it didn’t work,” said Miller following the race. “Hats off to him. I want to thank JRM, all the guys that worked on this thing.”
The debut took place at a track loaded with Earnhardt history. Ralph Earnhardt, Miller’s great-grandfather, won five track championships at Hickory during his career. Dale Earnhardt won multiple races at Hickory as well.
Both mother and father, Kelley Earnhardt Miller and L.W. Miller have raced at Hickory Motor Speedway as well, along with uncles Dale Earnhardt, Jr. and Kerry Earnhardt.
Miller grew up racing at Millbridge Speedway, winning the track’s Beginner Box Stock championship in 2021 and its Restricted Micro championship in 2022. In 2023, Wyatt Miller won a Golden Driller, taking the victory in the Restricted A-Class at the Tulsa Shootout.
Miller currently plans to race again at Hickory in two weeks’ time, when the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Series returns to action on March 22.
This weekend, Hickory Motor Speedway hosts the Pro All Stars Series’ Easter Bunny Weekend, with racing on Friday and Saturday, March 14-15.
