Previewing the Easter Bunny 150

Top PASS drivers from the Northeast will make the trip to Hickory Motor Speedway for the PASS Super Late Model doubleheader, facing some stiff competition from the southeast when they arrive.

Currently, 18 cars are entered for Easter Bunny weekend. Six-time PASS North champion D.J. Shaw, former PASS National Champion Joey Doiron, and more lead the charge from the contingent of PASS regulars competing in the Easter Bunny 150. Last year, Derek Griffith won an eventful Easter Bunny 150, his third career win in the event.

There will also be a handful of drivers from the southeast looking to defend home turf against the PASS invasion. Among them are Spencer Davis, who won at New Smyrna Speedway during the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing, and a multiple-time race winner at Hickory Motor Speedway in Caden Kvapil.

The Super Late Models will be joined by the PASS Modifieds and the Mid-Atlantic Street Stocks on both Friday and Saturday, giving fans an action-packed racing weekend at Hickory.

PASS Easter Bunny 150

History of the Easter Bunny 150

A tradition that started nearly 20 years ago continues this Friday and Saturday, as PASS returns to Hickory Motor Speedway for Easter Bunny Weekend. The event started in 2006, with Mike Rowe winning the inaugural running of the Easter Bunny 150 against a field of 28 competitors.

The Easter Bunny 150 remained a staple of Easter weekend at Hickory Motor Speedway until 2020, when COVID forced the postponement of the event. In 2021, PASS returned and contested an Easter Bunny doubleheader, making up the 2020 edition of the event while also crowning its 2021 winner. Griffith swept the Easter Bunny races that year.

The doubleheader format proved so popular that it has now become the standard for the event. While known by its long-running Easter Bunny moniker, the event now takes place on the weekend nearest St. Patrick's Day, with the St. Patrick's Day 150 and Easter Bunny 150 composing both Super Late Model contests for the weekend.

Top Late Model racers such as Griffith, Stephen Nasse, Cole Butcher, Ben Rowe and Preston Peltier have all scored Easter Bunny wins during their career. In 2022, William Byron won one half of the Easter Bunny weekend before going to Atlanta Motor Speedway and winning the NASCAR Cup Series event the following day.
