Brandon Varney and Dennis Spencer Motorsports are partnering to run the entire weekly series in the Oxford County Motors Sales Super Late Model Division, as well as selected PASS races.
Late in 2023, Varney Racing and Spencer Motorsports teamed up for a three race deal for driver Brandon Varney. That partnership led to a victory in weekly competition in their second start with another pair of top ten finishes. Building off those races, the two teams have announced they will again partner in 2024 to run the entire weekly series in the Oxford County Motors Sales Super Late Model Division. The teams also plan to supplement the schedule with selected PASS races, including the 51st annual Oxford 250.
Varney is coming off a successful championship campaign in the Kennebec Equipment Rental PASS MODS, and looks to parlay that success along with last year’s three race stint to compete at the tracks top level. The 26-year-old Auburn driver was recently named a semi-finalist for the nationally known Kulwicki Driver Development Program, but is still keeping expectations in check.
“Last year was an amazing season. We had a ton of success in the Mod and then getting a chance in one of the Spencer cars made it an awesome season. I would love to keep that momentum rolling into this year, but I am also aware that racing every week has its own challenges. Oxford Plains Speedway’s weekly program is among the best in the entire country, so we are just hoping to be a consistent threat.”
Dennis Spencer Motorsports (DSM) is a top notch PASS North team that has competed fulltime on the tour over the last couple of seasons gathering a win and multiple top 5 finishes. The DSM team has grown into a top competitor and threat at every single race, especially at home track OPS. Varney Racing is entering its 9th year of competition in cars, and 20th all together. The team has steadily climbed their way up the ranks seeing success at every level. With 55 career wins and 5 championships in cars and similar stats in Karts, the Auburn driver is no stranger to victory lane.
Dennis Spencer Motorsports and Varney Racing have put the finishing touches on the same Port City Chassis they had success with in late last season. “After running with Brandon for those races last year, we can see he has a lot of potential,” said DSM owner Dennis Spencer. “We think he will be a great addition to the weekly series at Oxford and will represent us well.”
For Varney, this is the culmination of a years of hard work grinding through the ranks. “I can’t thank Dennis and the whole team enough for this opportunity. It has always been a dream of mine to drive a Super Late Model, and it would not be possible without those guys having enough faith in me to let me give it shot. I am grateful for the opportunity.”
