The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models trekked north to Spud Speedway in Caribou, Maine on Sunday for a non-points special event. Trevor Sanborn took the checkered flag in the Spud 150, earning a provisional starting position in the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Oxford 250.

Sanborn started on the pole and led every lap of the 150-lap event. However, he still felt pressure throughout the race from D.J. Shaw as the two drivers managed tire wear and race pace in the caution-free event.

"I didn't know how hard to go with the pace," said Sanborn. "I'd see D.J. closing in, and I'd go a little harder. It was just hard to judge. Mario was real good on the radio with me, told me the times. Put a little gap on them and set sail. What a rocketship this FURY car is."

For Shaw, it was another strong run, which would be worthy of celebration if it weren't part of a larger, more frustrating trend. The New Hampshire pilot has five runner-up finishes in eight points-paying PASS events in 2024, still seeking his first win with the series this year.

"It was just a solid day for us," said Shaw. "Trevor was the class of the field there. We just didn't have quite enough. That's the story of our year here. That's our sixth second-place finish on the tour. Nothing to hang our heads on, it just gets more and more frustrating that we can't ever be the best car, we're always second-best."

Johnny Clark rounded out the podium finishers, battling a tight race car that prevented him from competing with the top two finishers.

"We just were way too tight. We needed to roll the center better. We couldn't carry any of the straightaway speed to catch those two. I could see them, but I just couldn't inch forward. A couple of laps there, we thought we were gaining, but we were just way too tight and bogging the motor down."

Next week, the Pro All Stars Series goes back points racing at Seekonk Speedway in the Bay State Summer Classic.
