For one Tuesday in February, all eyes will be on the historic half-mile just outside of Daytona, Florida. A track that was built with high-speed short track racing in mind, has now become the springboard for many that will be racing at Daytona International Speedway just a few days later. New Smyrna Speedway’s World Series of Asphalt will once again be the place to be for short track racers, fans, and others in the racing industry for 10 days of racing.

The Clyde Hart Memorial race hasn’t always been a part of the World Series of Asphalt. It was previously held in July prior to the summer race at Daytona. However, due to the unpredictable July summer weather in Florida, the decision was made to move the Clyde Hart Memorial and make it a part of the World Series of Asphalt event in February.

This season, the STARS National Tour will kick off their 2024 campaign on February 13th at New Smyrna Speedway for the 25th running of the Clyde Hart Memorial. The nation’s Best Super Late Models will run wheel to wheel in what is shaping up to be a memorable 25th anniversary of the Clyde Hart Memorial. Since the inaugural event in 1999, there have been 13 different winners and only one rainout with the legendary TM Ranch number 11 car driven by the late David Rogers, winning the inaugural event back in 1999. Wayne Anderson is a five-time event winner with wins in 2000, 2004, 2005, 2008 and 2011.

Other notable drivers include four-time event winner Jeff Choquette who won in 2010 and then won three in a row in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Tim Russell has won the Clyde Hart Memorial three times with wins in 2006, 2009 and 2015. Short track veteran Stephen Nasse added his name to the record books in 2020 while NASCAR Cup Series driver William Byron became a two-time winner with back to back wins in 2022 and 2023.

The 2024 edition of this event honoring New Smyrna Speedway’s founding father is going to be a ‘can’t miss’ event with short track stars from all over the country. The race will be twice as long as the normal distance, with the STARS National Tour running the signature 100-mile race or 200 laps around the ½ mile at New Smyrna Speedway. Will someone new add their name to the Clyde Hart Memorial winner list, or will we see a repeat winner? Find out live and in person Tuesday, February 13th for the 25th running of the Clyde Hart Memorial.
