ASA STARS National Tour Releases Huge Bonus Package For Full-Time Teams
Jan 3, 2025
In the hours following the ASA STARS National Tour's announcement of a new Platinum Program supporting full-time competitors with the series, three teams have already announced their intentions to chase the ASA STARS National Tour championship in 2025.
ASA STARS National Tour officials announced that Austin Nason, Derek Thorn and Billy VanMeter are the first to commit to the ASA STARS National Tour's Platinum Program for 2025.
Derek Thorn will partner with Highlands Motorsports for the endeavor, continuing a partnership that developed late in the 2024 season. The 2022 Snowball Derby winner has four previous starts with the ASA STARS National Tour, with a best finish of second in the 2023 All American 400 at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.
Nason and VanMeter both competed full-time with the ASA STARS National Tour in 2024. Nason is the only driver who has started all 20 ASA STARS National Tour events over the series' first two seasons.
Nason finished fifth in points each of the past two years. Last year, Nason tallied four top-five finishes, including runner-up finishes in both the Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway and the Michigan 200 at Owosso Speedway.
VanMeter has attempted all 20 ASA STARS National Tour events over the past two years, with 19 starts. Last year, VanMeter finished seventh in points with a fourth-place finish at The Milwaukee Mile and a fifth-place result in the Redbud 400.
The new Platinum Program presented by Rackley Roofing for the ASA STARS National Tour is valued at $655,000. The program features a 925 percent increase in support from last year's Winner's Circle Program. The Platinum Program includes several monetary bonuses to help with the costs of racing, including a $1,500 bonus per event.
