With only two point races remaining in the 2024 ASA Southern Super Series, the question that we are asking is, can it happen again?

Prior to the 2024 season, Bubba Pollard, Stephen Nasse and Casey Roderick had won five series championships between themselves and a total of 55 Southern Super Series races. Strangely, these three drivers had never finished 1-2-3 in any event across Pro or Super Late Model racing.

That was until the 2024 edition of SpeedFest. Pollard took the win over Nasse and Roderick. That marked the first time this trio swept the podium in 80 events.

Fast forward to now and we have not only seen this combination again, but now in back-to-back-races. Pollard beat Nasse and Roderick at Five Flags Speedway in June, where Roderick actually led the most laps before finishing third. The last time out, Roderick got the win with Nasse sandwiched between Roderick and Pollard who was third at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.

“It has been something to see a feat like this happen three times this season,” said Southern Super Series General Manager Tim Bryant. “I was shocked to hear that they had never swept the podium and now they have done it three times this year alone.”

Roderick leads the points and is in line to post his third Southern Super Series Championship with a few more solid finishes. Nasse and Pollard are seeking wins and bragging rights as the three chase down the final few laps of the season. The success will leave these drivers with six championships, and currently 60 wins in the Southern Super Series.

After the SpeedFest event, the podium drivers took a picture together and the top three had very little room to smile. The three don’t exchange Christmas cards and because of the level of competition they have against each other that’s not likely to change. This is a high level of respect across the board, but still, the smiles are hard to come by in a group setting.

The next Southern Super Series event will be the Georgia Summer Nationals at Cordele Motor Speedway (GA) on August 10th. This will be the 15th event for the series at Cordele with Bubba Pollard having won five times in the past. However, it’s been seven years since he won the summer event in his home state. Point leader Casey Roderick has never won a Super Late Model race at Cordele and he hopes to change that in August.
