(Slinger, WI) The Elite 8 Super Late Model division has been added to the Sunday afternoon, September 11th program, at the Slinger Super Speedway. The super late models will compete in a 100-lap championship feature honoring legendary engine builder Carl Wegner.
The super late models will be joined by the Uptown Motorcars Pro Late Models, Sportsman, Slinger Bees, Slinger Sixers, Slinger Beez and the always entertaining Figure 8’s. Repairs to a damaged catch fence, last Sunday night at Slinger Speedway, did not allow for the super lates to run their feature event, pushing it to this Sunday afternoon. Point leader RJ Braun, Jacob Nottestad, Alex Prunty and Brad Keith all have a mathematical chance to claim the super late model championship. Braun, Nottestad and Keith are all chasing their first Slinger titles while Prunty in search of his second slinger super late model crown.
“We ran into a situation last week, fixing the fence, where we ran up against our curfew and we couldn’t run the super late model championship race,” said track owner Todd Thelen. “We held a meeting with the super late drivers, and it was unanimously decided that we’d try again this Sunday afternoon.”
The field for the super late model 100-lapper is already set, via last weekend’s qualifying and preliminaries. Grandstand gates open at noon on Sunday with qualifying scheduled for 12:05 pm. Racing action begins at 2:00. Fans can purchase their tickets ahead of time by visiting www.slingersuperspeedway.com. Adult admission is just $15.
The Slinger Super Speedway is slated to host a Monster Truck Showdown, Saturday, September 24th, meaning this Sunday afternoon will be the final time fans can witness racing on the high-banked ¼-mile oval, in 2022.
Slinger Speedway is located off of Highways 41 and 144 at 280 Cedar Creek Road in Slinger, WI. For more information on upcoming events visit our web site at www.slingersuperspeedway.com or call the track office at 262-644-5921.
