Racing America, South Alabama Reach Multi-Year Agreement for Rattler Broadcast

For 2024, The Rattler will take place on the weekend of March 17th and will be sanctioned by the SPEARS SRL National Super Late Model Tour.
Since 1974, South Alabama Speedway has been the host to “The Rattler 250”, one of the nation’s marquee Super Late Model events. For 2024, “The Rattler” will take place on the weekend of March 17th and will be sanctioned by the “SPEARS SRL National Super Late Model Tour.”
“We can’t thank John Dykes and his family enough for allowing the SRL to come in and oversee their biggest annual event for the second year,” stated the SRL’s Ricky Brooks. “I’ve been working “The Rattler” with John for over 11 years now and it’s become one of the biggest Super Late Model events on the annual calendar.”
The 48th running of “The Rattler” will feature with “The Baby Rattler” on Saturday for Pro Late Models and “The Rattler 250” for Super Late Models on Sunday which will pay $25,000 to win and $1,600 to start. The weekend will also feature local classes that compete at SAS.
The list of past “Rattler” champions is a who’s who of Super Late Model racing. Top of the list is defending Rattler winner and the 2023 SPEARS SRL National Super Late Model Tour Champion, Bubba Pollard (2023, 2012), four-time winner Ty Majeski (2022, 2021, 2020, 2017, 2016), Harrison Burton (2018), Christopher Bell (2015), Casey Roderick (2014),), Jeff Fultz (2010), plus Augie Grill, Ronnie Sanders, Dave Mader III, Mike Alexander and Pete Hamilton back in 1975, the list goes on and on.
The ‘SPEARS SRL National Super Late Model Tour’ is a national tour for Super Late Model competitors, sanctioning events from coast to coast, including marquee events such as the $25,000 to win “All-Star Showdown” at Southern California’s Irwindale Speedway, the $30,000 to win “Battle at Berlin”, “The Rattler 250” and the $30,000 to win “Bill Bigley Sr Memorial”.
