Josh Berry Teaming Up With Dylan Fetcho Racing for Battle of Broadway 150
May 31, 2024
For the second time in as many races, Seth Christensen went to victory lane with the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series at Five Flags Speedway Friday night.
The 2023 Alabama 200 winner took the lead on lap 71 and held off Carson Brown in the closing laps to score the victory. Christensen also won the Allen Turner opener in April.
Christensen started on the front row for the 100-lap Pro Late Model feature, but fell to sixth in the opening laps stuck on the outside line around the Pensacola half-mile.
"I got put in a hole starting second," said Christensen in victory lane. "I couldn't get down in time, [fell back] to I don't know what it was, fifth or sixth. Came through the field, made the most of some situations."
Christensen inherited the lead on lap 71, when Augie Grill slowed from the top spot and ultimately came to a halt just shy of pit road with an apparent issue. Before that, Grill had led more than 40 laps in the contest.
After that, Christensen's primary competition was Carson Brown in the No. 81 for Anthony Campi Racing. However, Christensen held off Brown to secure the victory and add to his Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series points lead.
"Huge props to Carson for running me clean there. It was super fun to race that close with anybody at this track. I tell anybody this, it's my favorite track, and that's why."
As for Brown, he felt he had managed the race well to give himself a shot at the win in the closing laps. A caution with eight laps to go for Zack Dixon slowing to a stop on the backstretch may have derailed Brown's best shot.
"The car was pretty good," said Brown. "I thought I saved enough for the end. We just lost everything there at the end. If that last caution didn't come out, I think we would have been really good. Unfortunate, but big thanks to Anthony [Campi] and everybody who made this all happen.
Defending Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series champion John Bolen recovered from a 12th-place qualifying effort to finish third.
"The motor's down a little bit, and I put us in a hole starting 12th," said Bolen. "These guys qualified up front. We didn't have any tire left by the time we got to them."
Jim Wall finished fourth, with Jason Vail rounding out the top five.
The next race for the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series is scheduled for Friday, August 23. The next race at Five Flags Speedway takes place on June 14, with Outlaws, Sportsman, Pure Stocks and Crown Stocks in action.
