First Look at Entry List for 44th Annual Slinger Nationals
Jun 27, 2023
Rich Bickle, a four-time Slinger Nationals champion, will join the booth for Racing America's broadcast of the event.
Rich Bickle will be part of the commentary team for Racing America’s broadcast of the 44th Annual Cobblestone Hotels Slinger Nationals Presented by Lynch Buick GMC West Bend on Tuesday, July 11.
Bickle, a four-time Slinger Nationals champion as well as a five-time winner of the Snowball Derby, will be a guest analyst for the event. The news was announced on this week’s episode of “The Bullring” on Racing America.
“It’s hard enough for me to go to the race track, but I figured this would make it a little bit easier for me to talk about people,” said Bickle. “If you want it, you’re going to get the truth.”
Two of Bickle’s Slinger National titles came during the early years of the event, when it would be a three-race mini-series crowning a champion after the final race. In 2000, the event moved to a single-race format. Since then, Bickle won the Slinger Nationals twice, in 2003 and 2013. Bickle retired from competition following the 2021 Snowball Derby.
“There were a lot of times, it was two nights. I should have won it again. I came from the back and passed Kenseth for the lead, and I got underneath him in turn three, but he doored me into the infield, but that’s another story between me and him.
“The Nationals were it. As far as being up in the North, in the Midwest, it was 60, 70 cars. It was as good as it gets.”
The first look at the entry list for this year’s Slinger Nationals already shows more than 40 teams entered. For more information about the Slinger Nationals, visit https://slingersuperspeedway.com.
