The premiere Super Late Model Series in the Pacific Northwest will combine with the premiere race in the region in 2025, to make for an event that has been anticipated for many seasons. The Northwest Super Late Model Series (NWSLMS) is excited to announce that the 13th annual “Summer Showdown 200” will be part of the 2025 season schedule, as Evergreen Speedway (WA) will host the series for the sixth time on July 17th through the 19th. It will be the series first visit to Evergreen for the prestigious event that paid Derek Thorn $30,000 to win in 2024.
Doug Hobbs, the Evergreen Speedway President and CEO, is looking forward to adding the Northwest Super Late Model Series as a partner to the 13th annual event sponsored by Tire Pros.
“Evergreen Speedway is proud to announce that the 13th annual Tire Pros “Summer Showdown” has a new partnership and agreement for 2025”, Hobbs began. “The Northwest Super Late Model Series will be adding the “Summer Showdown” to their series points events. We are very pleased to have Dan (Garber) and the NWSLMS team participate in the “Summer Showdown”, adding to their impressive list of marquee events in the Northwest. We feel adding the “Tour” to our signature race will fully engage the entire Northwest racing community."
The ”Summer Showdown” has been a destination event for drivers all across the country since 2012, when Pete Harding took the title home to our neighbors up north, in British Columbia, Canada. Drivers such as Bubba Pollard, Preston Peltier, Cameron Hayley, Owen Riddle, Tayler Riddle, Kole Raz, Jay Sauls, and most recently Derek Thorn have taken home the title. Thorn finally grabbed his first win in seven tries, after a last turn incident between the leaders Jonathon Gomez and Tyler Tanner gave the Californian the title. An event high 53 Super Late Models appeared in 2014.
The NWSLMS has provided technical help for the “Summer Showdown” on several occasions, but series director Dan Garber is excited to take on a larger role in 2025, as a full championship event for the series participants.
“Adding this event to our schedule is a great opportunity for all involved”, Garber stated. “We have been working on getting back to Evergreen and our team is excited to put on a great show.”
The Northwest Super Late Model Series is coming off a season that saw the series draw a minimum of 30 Super Late Models in three 2024 events. 89 different drivers competed over the course of the season, which averaged 22 Super Late Models per event. “Young Gun” Kasey Kleyn earned the series title, to go along with five wins, while veteran racers Garrett Evans, Jason Jefferson, Kyle Tellstrom, Owen Riddle and Jan Evans also claimed wins. Four events paid $10,000 to win. Former series champions include Garrett Evans, Brittney Zamora, Trevor Cristiani, Kaiden Anderson, Haeden Plybon, and Kleyn.
The 2025 Northwest Super Late Model Series schedule is coming together and will be announced in the next several weeks. The series enters its’ 12th season, with multiple big-name events, which will include the season opening 56th annual “Apple Cup” at Tri-City Raceway RMEC, for the fourth consecutive season.
