Kasey Kleyn returned to victory lane at Stateline Speedway Saturday night, winning the Northwest Super Late Model 125 presented by Les Schwab.

Kleyn’s first career NWSLMS win also came at Stateline Speedway one year ago, giving him a pair of wins with the series at the Idaho facility.

“Yeah, I pretty much grew up racing here,” said Kleyn in victory lane. “Everything I’ve run, I’ve run it at least once here. I’ve been through the ranks here racing about every car you could. I really like this track.”

Kleyn won last year’s event at the track in a photo finish with Haeden Plybon, and it appeared at one point they two drivers were prepared to battle for another Stateline win. However, Plybon fell out of the race after leading its first 63 laps, turning the top spot over to Kleyn.

Kleyn finished second in the first two NWSLMS races of the 2024 season, as well as the final two races of last year. While it has made for strong points runs, Kleyn is happy to finally have another win with the series.

“It feels so good to get a win. I don’t know what it was, something like four seconds in a row. That never feels good. It’s sure as hell consistent and all, but s second does not feel as good as a win, I’ll tell you that.”

Zach Riehl finished second, a career best for the driver with the Northwest Super Late Models.

“I’d say my secret was the top groove,” said Riehl. “It definitely came in at the end. You could get a run on these big motor cars coming off the bottom.”

Jason O’Neil also recorded a career-best finish with NWSLMS on Saturday, rounding out the podium at Stateline Speedway in a new race car.

“It just got a little tight,” said O’Neil. “It’s a brand-new car. It’s got 12 laps on it today and that’s it. It’s good, the car’s in one piece, not a scratch on it. We’ll build on this and go to Wenatchee and see what we can do for the 200.”

The next Northwest Super Late Model Series event is scheduled for June 15 at Hermiston Raceway.
