Derek Griffith Tops Saturday's Oxford 250 Practice Charts

Derek Griffith, of Hudson, NH, posted a fast time of 15.412 seconds in the No. 12 SLM to lead all 49 drivers who participated in Oxford 250 practice on Saturday.

When the Super Late Model practice for Sunday’s Oxford 250 Super Late Model race ended on Saturday, it was a familiar name atop the chart.

Derek Griffith, of Hudson, NH, posted a fast time of 15.412 seconds in the No. 12 SLM to lead all 49 drivers who participated. Close behind for second-fast time was Jeff Taylor in the No. 88 with a time of 15.481 seconds around Oxford Plains Speedway.

Round out the top-five fastest drivers was Cory Hall in the No. 4 at 15.519 sec, the No. 73 of Joey Dorion with a 15.586 sec lap and Brandon Barker with a lap of 15.589 sec in the No. 32 entry.

Of note, Friday night’s winner in the SLM Open Competition 200, Austin Teras, posted the eighth-fastest lap of 15.661 sec. During that race, which allowed aerodynamic modifications to the cars for the night, the No. 29 of Teras led every lap while lapping the entire field.

When the green flag drops on Sunday for the SLM main event, the regular rules will be in effect for all 60 entries attempting to make the prestigious race.

The ever-popular Bubba Pollard, who made the long haul from his home in Senoia, GA, posted the seventh-fastest lap of 15.603 seconds..

As an overall comparison, the slowest car of the practice session was posted by Skip Stanley with a time of 16.250 seconds for a gap of 0.838 tenths between first and 49th.

On the docket for Saturday night action at OPS are the 350 Supers, ACT Consi (if needed), PASS Modifieds, Street Stocks, Limiteds with the NESS ACT Series rounding out the action.
