Before the calendar turns from July to August and the road to the 51st Annual Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Oxford 250 heats up, Oxford Plains Speedway had one more new winner up its sleeve.

Dalton Gagnon scored his first career Super Late Model win on Life's A Ride Equestrian Center Night at Oxford Plains, taking the checkered flag in the 50-lap Super Late Model feature for the Oxford Championship Series.

Gagnon took the lead from Ryan Littlefield on lap 14 and stayed up front for the remainder of the event, adding his name to the list of winners in Oxford Plains' premier division just as Sylas Ripley did two races ago.

"I didn't want to get done racing until I won one race in one of this things. I've been driving them off-and-on for four years, five years now. It's been a long time. Time flies."

Alan Tardiff charged to a second-place finish, rocketing around several cars on the outside line. It's not common to see competitors prefer the high line at Oxford Plains, but the 2017 track champion felt right at home.

"The third groove, the outside here is not a favorable place for a lot of guys to run," said Tardiff. "Which is good for me, because I love the outside here. There's so much grip if you can get your car to work.

"Congrats to Dalton. It's his first win with my old team, and I'm happy for him."

Littlefield rounded out the podium after leading the first 13 laps from pole position.

"I'm absolutely happy with a third-place run. I thought, starting on the pole, we'd have something, but we got wicked free as the run went on. Bad adjustment on our end, but, hey, we were wicked close. Congrats on Dalton's first win, that's awesome."

A doubleheader weekend awaits Oxford Plains' Super Late Model competitors on August 3-4. The Oxford Championship Series takes the track on Saturday, August 3, before the Pro All Stars Series races on Sunday, August 4 in the tour's final Oxford 250 tune-up.

The Oxford Championship Series also races on August 10, with a 100-lap Super Late Model event scheduled that day in the last race day before Oxford 250 weekend on August 23-25.
