Apr 16, 2022
Following a test at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Wednesday, NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee Dale Earnhardt, Jr. said he hopes to compete in the North Wilkesboro Racetrack Revival.
“I think, after what I experienced today, I’ve got intentions of signing up and running the CARS Tour race,” Earnhardt, Jr. told Racing America. “We’ve got to figure out how many laps the race needs to be or should be. We’re getting a lot of details ironed out. We’re in the conversation of doing all that stuff, and today helps us check a lot of boxes.”
The CARS Tour Late Model Stock Cars are currently scheduled to compete on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 30-31, to close out the pavement portion of the Racetrack Revival, in conjunction with CRA Street Stocks and Limited Late Models.
On Wednesday, Earnhardt, Jr. tested along with JR Motorsports drivers Josh Berry and Carson Kvapil. Now competing full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Berry is the 2017 CARS Late Model Stock Car Tour champion as well as its winningest driver.
This year, Kvapil has been driving the team’s No. 8 car in the CARS Tour, winning at Caraway Speedway and Franklin County Speedway.
Earnhardt said the team’s current plan is to enter two cars for the Late Model Stock Car event at North Wilkesboro.
“I enjoyed it,” said Earnhardt. “I felt good out there. I would love to come out here and race. We’re going to have two cars here at the CARS Tour. We’re going to have two cars entered, and I hope to be in one of them.”
