Cody Krucker Scores Top-10 in ASA Southern Super Series Debut

For a race car driver, the summer months can be tough in South Florida. Some of the area tracks take time off to allow for the hot months to pass to ensure an enthusiastic crowd will show up to see their show. That can leave a driver with a race car and nothing to do. Throw in a track closure or two and you get the perfect circumstances for a team to travel.

In the most recent race 18-year-old Cody Krucker headed north to run with the ASA Southern Super Series for the first time. Krucker came to Crisp Motorsports Park (GA) to run his first contest with the series.

“We were left searching for a place to race,” said Krucker. “Some of the tracks around us close for the summer time and our local track closed so we needed to find a place to race. We saw the Southern Super Series was running Georgia so we got things together and made the trip. “We are looking to get our name out there as a driver and have some bigger race experiences and that comes together with a tour like the Southern Super Series.”

After starting 12th in the 22 car field he came home seventh on the lead lap after 125 circuits.

“Both Cordele and my home track of 417 are 3/8th of a mile tracks,” added Krucker. They’re so different in so many ways. Cordele was so much fun to drive. To have the ability to race different lines made it a unique challenge. Not having a wall around it on the outside too made for some interesting moments.”

Krucker ran well. He maintained his position on the lead lap and kept his car in one piece and at the end of the night the team walked out with a race car in one piece.

“We accomplished our goals with this event,” added Krucker. “First off we wanted to finish the race. We did that and then we were focusing on being on the lead lap and not having any damage. We were playing it safe as it was our first time with the series and the track. We did all that and hope to do well at the next one.”

No plans are set for Krucker to run the final two races at Five Flags next month, but we know they will be looking at Cordele for SpeedFest in 2024.

The ASA Southern Super Series will be back in action for a doubleheader weekend on September 22nd and September 23rd at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. The series will run 75-lap races each night and they will be the final two points events of the season.
