MADISON, NC – Bobby McCarty knew it was time for a change in his racing career. His time at Nelson Motorsports was one that was filled with the highest of highs winning championships and races at a high frequency, along with some lows – going winless in CARS Tour competition for the first time in his career in 2022.

With three CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car Championships in the rear-view mirror, McCarty will join forces with a familiar organization in 2023 as the veteran wheelman will pilot the #6 R&S Race Cars house car for Marcus Richmond and Steve Stallings.

“I am beyond excited to start the next chapter of my racing career with R&S Race Cars in 2023. Brooke and I had several options for 2023 and we both believe driving R&S Race Cars for Marcus (Richmond) and Steve (Stallings) is the best option for us to go out compete and win races immediately. I have confidence in race cars they build and the experience and notebook we already have moving forward. It’s an incredible opportunity for me to reunite with some of the folks that I have worked with in the past and I can’t wait to get to work. As a team, we will set the bar high and have high expectations heading into next season.”

Richmond commented on the partnership with McCarty stating, “To have Bobby McCarty as part of our R&S Race Cars family in 2023 is extremely exciting. I met Bobby back in 2013 through Steve Stallings and started helping him with set ups when he was running his family-owned operation. Since then, we have built a strong relationship and have a lot of wins to show for the hard work and the effort put forth. He brings a lot of experience and knowledge to our program that will only make us stronger.”

Richmond added, “Bobby also will be a huge part of our driver development program here at R&S Race Cars. His mentorship and his willingness to go out of his way to help our young drivers including Conner Jones and Logan Clark will be instrumental in their driver development.”

Along with McCarty, Richmond has also added veteran crew chief David Triplett to the equation. Triplett will serve as McCarty’s crew chief in 2023. The two have worked closely together over the last several years at Nelson Motorsports.

Richmond on the addition of Triplett stating, “Bringing David on board to crew chief Bobby was a no brainer. The two of them have worked so closely together for so long and won a lot of races and championships.” Richmond concluded, “Having David work with Bobby also allows me to step back and focus on the day-to-day operations as well as be an asset to all our teams in house teams as well as our customers.”

The 2023 schedule for McCarty will include the CARS Tour as well as the Virginia Triple Crown events (South Boston, Langley, and Martinsville). He will also run additional select events to round his 2023 schedule. McCarty’s schedule is expected to consist of 19-22 events throughout the 2023 campaign.

2023 partnerships and sponsors will be announced at a later date.
