Austin Teras brought a new race car to Oxford Plains Speedway and made a statement on Saturday evening, taking the win in the Oxford Championship Series 50-lap Super Late Model feature.

Teras took the lead from Colby Benjamin just shy of the halfway mark and led the rest of the way to take the checkered flag. The win comes in the very first appearance for a new No. 29 entry that will see plenty of action at Oxford Plains.

“This is actually a brand-new car,” said Teras. “This is its second day at the race track, its first race. I’m pretty happy with it.”

Teras admitted he wasn’t thrilled with the car after his heat race, where he finished fourth. However, he and the team made changes for the feature and the car came to life.

This is encouraging with a busy stretch of important races on the horizon at Oxford. Many of these same competitors will be back again tomorrow for the second half of a doubleheader weekend.

There will also be an Oxford Championship Series event each of the next two Sundays, June 1 and June 8, before twin 150-lap features on June 9 with the Pro All Stars Series.

All of these races will be vital in building notebooks for the $40,000-to-win All That’s Metal Celebration of America 300 on July 2-3. Teras is already looking ahead to that event after Saturday’s win.

“In the heat race, we weren’t very happy with it. We changed everything with it. We’ve got a platform to work with. We’ve just got to get ready for the twin 150s before the 300. Make it through that, and we’ll have a good showing at the 300 hopefully.”

Scott McDaniel finished second, with Steven Chicoine finishing third. Full results will be added as they become available.
