In the final tune-up for the 51st Annual Bar Harbor Bank & Trust Oxford 250, Austin Teras went to victory lane in a 100-lap Super Late Model qualifier at Oxford Plains Speedway Saturday.

Teras led wire-to-wire in the event, claiming this third Super Late Model win of the year at Oxford Plains. With the win, Teras is guaranteed, at minimum, a provisional starting spot in the Oxford 250 on August 25-27.

Of course, Teras would prefer to race his way into the main event on Sunday, August 27, and his strength in this race proved he could be a driver to watch in the marquee event at the end of the month.

“It’s always nice to have that provisional to lean back on, but we want to qualify in, qualify good and chase some lap money," said Teras. "Man, it’s been a long week, a lot of traveling, a little bit of bad luck. Now we’re here, we ended the week in victory lane. That’s all you can hope for, right?”

Nick Cusack finished second, which would put him next in line for the provisional if Teras indeed races his way into the Oxford 250. However, he'd also much rather make the show on merit. Cusack admitted they didn't have enough speed to contend with Teras, but the runner-up finish gives the team momentum entering the biggest race of the year at Oxford Plains.

“Austin and them, they’ve got something figured out here. Wasting time with lapped traffic and a couple of slower cars makes it tough. I didn’t want to burn it up that early. I was hoping we’d have some at the end, but congrats to them. We’ll move on to the 250.”

Kate Re rounded out the podium with a third-place finish, returning to form just in time for the Oxford 250.

“My guys have worked so hard the past couple of weeks. We’ve struggled, did our homework. It’s been a lot of hard work, and a lot of late nights in the shop. I really can’t thank my crew enough for not giving up on me for the rough weeks we’ve had.”

Scott Moore finished fourth, with Thomas Abele, Jr. completing the top five.
