Entry Blank Released for CRA Late Model Sportsman Cabin Fever at Shadybowl
Mar 21, 2024
Just over one month from the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance season opener at Berlin Raceway, names continue to roll in of drivers who are looking for success in 2024. Belmont, Michigan native, Austin Hull will hit the road with the JEGS Tour in his third full year of Template Late Model Racing chasing wins and building their Hullster Racing team into something that can continue for years to come.
So far, Hull has only seen the JEGS Tour for two events. His inaugural start came at his home track of Berlin Raceway during the 2021 Battle at Berlin; a race co-sanctioned by the ASA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS and the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. His second start came during last year’s Masters of the Pros 184 at Owosso Speedway – he led three laps after pit strategy put him at the front of the field, but would settle for tenth at the checkered flag.
Hull’s third year of Template Late Model racing comes after seven years of other types of racing, including racing Sportsman at Berlin. In 2019, Hull collected six feature wins and secured the Season Championship at Berlin winning the final race of the year. The team tested template late models in 2020, before going all in for the 2021 season. Hull says this is the year to begin building their program into a staple organization for years to come.
“My dad and I want to build something for my little nephew,” Hull explained. “If he wants to race when he gets older, we want him to have a good platform.”
Hull says that going on the road with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will challenge them, but it’s a challenge they feel ready for. They say the biggest hurdle for them will be fellow drivers.
“It’s gonna be the competition, definitely,” said Hull of what will be most challenging this year. “New tracks will be something different. I’ve only raced at Owosso and Berlin, so being able to adapt to different things [will be important]. Overall it’s just going to be a team-building exercise this first year.”
With that in mind, Hull says fans and drivers shouldn’t rule them out for trips to Victory Lane this year. Hull and his No.20 Town and Country Abbey Carpet-sponsored Toyota have their eyes on a couple of tracks that could produce their first win.
“Honestly, I want to say we just have the best shot at Owosso because we’ve been there,” Hull admits. “But, Anderson looks like the kind of track I prefer from the style of racing and how fast it is. We’re excited for the year, it’s gonna be tough for sure but I’m ready to rip. I’ve been ready since we made the decision to run the [JEGS Tour].”
The JEGS Tour season begins on Saturday, April 27th at Berlin Raceway in Marne, MI for a special $ 5,000-to-win show. Discounted advanced tickets are available now at BerlinRaceway.com. Fans who can’t attend can catch every JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour event on TrackTv.com and RacingAmerica.Tv.
