The ASA Southern Super Series will be the first Super Late Model series to award points in 2024 at the annual SpeedFest event on January 20th at Crisp Motorsports Park (GA). The 150-lap Super Late Model event will be co-sanctioned with the ASA/CRA Super Series, who will run the race as a non-points event for their midwest Super Late Model teams.
“We are excited to be starting our 2024 season at SpeedFest at Watermelon Capital Speedway at Crisp Motorsports Park once again,” said Southern Super Series General Manager Tim Bryant. “It will be a new wrinkle for the teams chasing our points championship, but it will also allow for more drivers to get exposure with our series. This is just the first of a busy 2024 season for the Southern Super Series.”
It was announced two weeks ago that the ASA Southern Super Series will be tri-sanctioned along with the ASA STARS National Tour and the Sunbelt David Rogers Super Late Models for the Clyde Hart Memorial 200 at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) on February 13th.
So the first two races of 2024 have been slated.
The January points race at Crisp Motorsports Park will replace the Spring Nationals event at the Cordele, Georgia track, however the Georgia Summer nationals event will still take place. The date for that event will be announced at a later date.
Here are some important Notes for SpeedFest 2024
History - This will be the 19th running of Speedfest which has long been a starting point to the season for many Super Late Model teams. Of the prior 18 SpeedFest events a total of 14 have been held in the state of Georgia. In addition to the number of races held there, a total of eight wins have gone to Georgia drivers between Chase Elliott, Bubba Pollard, Corey Heim and Chandler Smith.
Record - Coming into the 2024 season opener Bubba Pollard has a lot of records in sight at the SpeedFest event. Pollard, a three-time winner, could break a three-way tie with Kyle Busch and Chase Elliott for the most wins at SpeedFest. Pollard is also seeking his third-straight win which would be a record for the event.
Schedule - January 20th will be raceday for the ASA Southern Super Series as they will go 150-laps in the annual doubleheader event. Prior to the Super Late Model race the JEGS / CRA All-Stars Tour will run their 100-lap feature race. A full day of practice and qualifying will take place on Friday, January 19th.
