Chase Pinsonneault may be a big name to watch in Metro Detroit on Saturday. The Ontario-native drives for Carson Hocevar Racing in a familiar #14 Chevrolet. Hocevar, now driving in the NASCAR Cup Series with Spire Motorsports, took a feature win at Flat Rock in CRA action at Flat Rock back in June 2021. In May, Pinsonneault scored his First JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour win at Owosso Speedway.
Pinsonneault is the grandson of Alec Pinsonneault, who started his career in the old Late Model Sportsman division at Toledo Speedway in the late 1980s/early 1990s before going on to race in the ASA series.
Chase Burda from Lapeer is another growing name competing this weekend. Burda is the defending champion of the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, and nearly tied the series all-time record with taking four wins in eleven races over the course of 2023. Burda competed in the 35th Running of the Glass City 200 last October in Toledo, finishing an extremely impressive third over drivers such as Bubba Pollard, Noah Gragson, and Ty Majeski. Burda participated in the ARCA Menards Series Road to Daytona in January!
Burda, the highest finishing Michigander or Ohioan in last year’s Glass City 200, looks to build on his resume this weekend in Flat Rock.
ASA/CRA entrants Ethan Stadniczuk, Jeff Vrsek, Guy Fire, Jimmy Tucker, David Liaeff and Collin Barron have plenty of laps of experience at the tough ¼ mile paved oval. Stadniczuk has wins in the ARCA Enduro/Factory Stocks and Street Stocks; Vrsek, a former Outlaw Super Late driver at the track, has switched his attention to the CRA Series, and has 2 wins at Flat Rock; Guy Fire has three DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock wins, Tucker took the 2016 Enduro Championship at Flat Rock, while Liaeff has a pair of Street Stock wins to his credit. Carleton’s Colin Barron is a local name, and has competed in the Rae family #103 car in the DTS Drive Train Specialists division.
Veteran racer Michael Simko has raced at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways for years, competing in several previous Glass City 200 and ARCA Menards Series races, providing memorable moments at the high banked half mile along the way. The Simko family has years of experience at Flat Rock and Toledo - Michael's father Dave and aunt Patty both have finished in the top five in the ARCA Menards Series at Toledo.
Richmond, MI brothers Brandon and Evan Varney look to bring a big result for the Varney family. Brandon started the last CRA race at Flat Rock up front, and looks to be a big name for fans on race day. Brandon broke through with his first JEGS Tour win at Corrigan Oil Raceway in the last round before Flat Rock. You can read more below!
Indianapolis's Billy VanMeter is in the midst of completing the full ASA STARS National Tour calendar after racing in last year's 35th running of the Glass City 200, and will compete at Toledo September 14th in the 200-lap Classic.
Evan Varney is very familiar to Flat Rock Speedway - previously winning at Flat Rock in Bandalero competition, Varney returns this Saturday to attempt to take a win in a bigger car!

After a one-year hiatus, the ASA/CRA-JEGS Late Model Combo race will return to Flat Rock Speedway. This will be the one race all season to catch CRA template late model racing at the Motor City’s Speedway.
Also on deck for this anticipated event will be the R&M Recycling Figure-8 Division, where Greg Studt looks to maintain his close points lead over Jeremy Vanderhoof and Billy Earley in the overall points battle. Studt is trying to close in on his fourth Figure 8 championship, his first in more than ten years (2001, 2002, 2013). A championship this August would mean the seventeenth Figure 8 championship at Flat Rock by the Studt family - Greg and Bob.
The third 100-lap leg of the Factory Stock 500 Series will be competing Saturday at Flat Rock Speedway after the second round at Toledo Speedway on May 24. Rayce Metdepenningen looks to take home a third-consecutive Safety-Kleen Factory Stock 500 Series win, capturing the first two races of the new series.
Tickets are available now for Saturday’s race at Flat Rock. Practice will start at 2:00 PM for a wild evening of racing at Flat Rock, and the schedule is packed with action on-track.
